I grew up in Northwest Iowa in the city of Spencer. The majority of my family is in the Everly and Esterville area's all with agricultural backgrounds. Having been a district officer for the past two years I am looking forward to continuing to see FFA members I know as well as meeting new ones through out the year. Anything involving agriculture holds a special place in my heart by having been surrounded by it my whole life and I plan on transferring to Iowa State and Majoring in Agricultural Education and Minoring in Agricultural Business. I show hogs, goats, sheep and the State and Clay County fair as well as flying mallards and broilers at the county level. The majority of my time is spent outside either running, at the lakes, hunting, working with livestock or planting and harvest seasons. Family holds a very large part of my life and has helped anchor me through the busy years. I have one little sister named Abby and a little brother named Nathan. My parents are Paul and Brenda, my Dad is a Regional Sales Manager for Wyffles Hybrids and my Mom is an Elementary Teacher. During high school I was at one time a 5 sport athlete with volleyball, basketball, archery, golf and softball; while also being very active in band and choir all four years. FFA also kept me very busy all four years and am excited to accept the challenges that come with the State Reporter position and the Iowa FFA Today newsletters. My goal this year is to have at least 4 released and to feature as many outstanding FFA members as possible! So if your chapter has anything from a fish fry as a fundraiser or does donkey basketball for fun I would love to hear about it! As a shout out to all the members of Iowa FFA please remember that you get out of FFA what you put into it! So don't be afraid to reach out! Also, if you don't like the way things are, change it! Your not a tree! :) I hope to meet and talk to many of you very soon!
Yours truely,
Cassie Galm
