Scholarships

Every year, scholarships are available to FFA members with various post-secondary and career interests. Opportunities will be posted here as they are made available. Please be aware of the deadline for each application. NOTE: information regarding scholarship opportunities are updated annual as information is provided to the Iowa FFA Association from the scholarship provider.


Future Ready Iowa Last-Dollar Scholarship

  • State-funded program for Iowans
  • The program is for new high school graduates and adult learners (age 20 and older)
  • Qualification for the program is based on job demand

SDSU FarmHouse Builder of Men Scholarship - August 19th

  • One $1,000 scholarship available
  • Applicant must be attending SDSU in the fall

Maynard Jane Scholarship - November 15th

  • Open to an upper classman enrolled in college with an agricultural background
  • $2,000 

Preston Pettit Memorial - December 9th

  • Up to $2,000 toward the purchase of a Red Angus heifer at the Iowa Beef Expo Red Angus Classic Sale
  • Must be at least 8 years old, but not older than 21
  • Selection interview process in January

Iowa Farm Bureau Scholarships - January 31st

  • Applicants/families must be members of Farm Bureau
  • High school seniors seeking high education in an ag-related field or one that supports rural Iowa.

  • 18 scholarships @ $1,000 each (9 HS Senior & 9 College Undergrad)
  • Applicant or parent/guardian must be a member of the ICGA
  • Students pursuing a degree in agriculture  

IFAA Winner's Circle - February 1st

  • Incoming freshman or upperclassmen enrolled in agriculture.
  • Studying agriculture at a 2 year or 4 year college or university.
  • Recognition at the scholarship picnic the second Saturday of the Iowa State Fair.

Iowa Horse Council Scholarship - February 1st

  • High school senior or older
  • Iowa resident
  • Current member of the Iowa Horse Council in good standing

WNAX All Stars Scholarship - February 4th

  • High school junior or senior, or college freshman
  • Active in FFA
  • Finalists are selected from four states: IA, MN, NE, and SD 

Lon and Kathy Tonneson Scholarship - February 15th

  • Scholarship available for current college students.
  • $500 scholarship.
  • Pursuing a degree in agriculture with an emphasis in Ag Communications and/or Leadership.

Mark Pearson FFA Scholarship - March 1st

  • Student must have been an FFA Chapter President during their Junior or Senior year.
  • Student must enroll full-time in a degree program at DMACC.
  • 2.0 minimum HS GPA.

Heartland Co-op Scholarship - March 1st

  • 12 scholarships at $1,000
  • Applicant/family must be a Class A member of the co-op.
  • Pursing post-secondary program in agriculture.

Iowa Cattlemen's Foundation - March 1st

  • Received the Youth Beef Team training
  • Completed the Masters of Beef Advocacy
  • Served as a county Beef Queen/Princess/Ambassador

Central Plains Dairy Foundation Scholarships - March 7th

  • Three scholarships at $5,000 each.
  • Available to students intending to enter the dairy industry.
  • Does not have to be a dairy science major.

Agricultural Future of America (AFA) Scholarship - March 9th

  • Selection is based on career vision and goals, leader and community involvement and financial need.
  • Applicants will be notified of their scholarship status in early June.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation - March 21st

Go to the Young Scholarship Webpage for more information. Eligible students are 7th graders interested in a pre-college scholarship. Scholars will receive:
  • Academic and college counseling, including college tours and visits.
  • Financial support for academic and extracurricular enrichment, including study abroad and internships.
  • A guided pathway to college success and a community of ambitious peers and mentorship opportunities.

Nufarm Grassman Scholarship -March 31st

Iowa Pork Foundation Scholarship - April 1st

  • High school senior or current college student attending college.
  • $1,000 for incoming freshmen; $2,000 for returning college students.

Roy J. Carver Scholarship - April 1st

  • 20 scholarships at $6,000 each available.

ISU Alpha Gamma Rho Scholarship - April 12th

  • Selection based on interest in agriculture, academic achievement, and leadership experience.

Angus Foundation Commercial Cattlemen Scholarship - May 1st
