Southwest Vice President: Laura Steinkamp
Laura is the daughter of Doug and Julie Steinkamp of Wall Lake, Iowa. She has 6 siblings and claims a spot as the middle child on a crop and livestock traditional family farm. Growing up on a farm with a large family formed strong values of independence in Laura to guide, support, and inspire others which led her to work hard and pursue her dream of serving as a FFA State Officer. Outside of farm life, she enjoys joking around with friends, exercising, performing on stage, hands-on creativity and late night car talks with friends. Throughout high school at Kuemper Catholic in Carroll, Laura was involved in many extracurriculars including 4-H and 4-H County Council, FFA, Student Council, Musical, Speech, Choir, Band, Volleyball, All Strings Attached orchestra, and swim team in the summer. As a freshman in college, Laura will pursue a major at Iowa State University studying Agricultural Communications with a minor in music and looks forward to participating in on-campus activities such as volleyball intramural, design clubs, and church activities. Laura is excited to share her experiences with Iowa FFA members to help them discover what passions bring them authentic joy in and out of FFA.
